About Everglades National Park
Everglades National Park protects 1.5 million acres of the southern tip of Florida's vast subtropical wetland, the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles coexist. The park encompasses sawgrass prairies, mangrove forests, coastal lowlands, and the shallow waters of Florida Bay. This UNESCO World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve is home to 36 threatened or protected species, including the endangered Florida panther and West Indian manatee.
